The acquisition of Eco.Déchets’ municipal waste collection contracts strengthens Sepur’s regional presence in the North-East of France and is part of the firm’s strategic expansion plan, further enhancing its position as a key environmental services player in France.

According to the Lyon Commercial Court ruling on July 25, 2024, the municipal waste and biowaste collection contracts operated by Eco.Déchets in the Hauts-de-France, Grand Est, and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions will now be operated by Sepur. Eco.Déchets had been under receivership procedure since May 2, 2024. After the deliberation hearing, the court was set to issue its decision and approve the sale of Eco.Déchets’ operations, along with the judicial liquidation, in favor of a viable offer from a purchaser.

Advised by its legal counsel, Bunch Avocats, a Lyon-based business law specialist, Sepur made a partial offer to take over selected contracts from Eco.Déchets. Following the judicial liquidation of the waste collection operator, Sepur submitted an offer to take over activities only in areas where the group is already established. Sepur has gained the trust of numerous local authorities in these regions and remains dedicated to its strategy of local proximity and controlled growth.

Starting from August 1st, 2024, Sepur will operate the selected contracts serving 20 local authorities, ensuring continuity of municipal waste collection services in these areas. This operation aims to strengthen Sepur’s presence as it pursues strategic growth in the North-East of France.

Despite the tight timeline, Sepur has committed to local authorities to maintain collection services and retain employees. The acquisition offer from Sepur guarantees the preservation of all jobs for field workers.

This decision represents a new phase in Sepur’s growth, and I would like to extend a warm welcome to the employees joining us. The acquisition of these contracts aligns with our strategy of geographical expansion to become a key environmental services player in France. We are dedicated to leveraging our expertise and performance in these regions to fully meet the expectations of the local authorities involved in this takeover, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of this public service with efficiency and reliability“, explains Youri Ivanov, CEO of Sepur.

Sepur operates across the entire environmental services sector, mainly focusing on municipal waste collection, but also expanding in waste sorting and recovery. With nearly 60 years of experience in the sector, the group offers local authorities a personalized approach and solutions customized to the specific needs of each territory, ensuring efficient operational services.

In this acquisition, Bunch Avocats acted as Sepur’s legal advisor. The Lyon-based firm, specializing in business law, assisted in structuring the purchase offer submitted to the court.
